WTF is All This?
If you’re on this page, you’re probably wondering what the hell all of this is about.
After working many years in and around politics, I realized that I’m not going to change anything so I might as well just sit back and make fun of it. First there was the movie, Washington Interns Gone Bad , a feature length no budget underground political comedy and general “fuck you” to the whole political system. Then there was a blog of the same name, with more rants laced with the same dark and sarcastic humor and cynicism of the film. Now comes my first forray into the world of comics. It’s something I’ve been wanting to do forever, but just needed some inspiration.
So I found these great photos of a Japanese action figure of Obama . It sorta kinda looks like him, if he were in an action movie. They’ve got him in all sorts of poses, with all sorts of props, and with great little detailed closeups. I don’t think more than a second passed by between me viewing these images and me realizing their potential and saving them. All I could think of while seeing these pictures was having him say things like “does Marcellus Wallace look like a bitch?”
The Obama portrayed in these comics is obviously a caricature. He’s the president. He’s progressive. And he’s the cat who won’t cop out when there’s danger all about. He’s one bad mutha… (shut yo mouth!). You get the idea. I highly doubt the real President Obama runs around like he’s the hero in a blaxploitation movie. I doubt he goes around pistol whipping right wing talk radio douchebags, let alone referring to them as douchebags. Even in private, he probably has a very clean mouth. These strips are probably going to offend everyone. For the right wing crowd who are offended, that’s the idea. You guys suck. You made our country suck for the last 8 years and I want to offend you. Fuck you. And please come again and keep reading. But the politically incorrect nature of these comics will probably offend some folks on the left as well. Remember it’s all about the context. I’m a progressive humorist, and I’m poking fun at all sorts of stuff. The stereotypes are based on pop culture and I don’t have a racist bone in my body. These are all characters. Lighten up (and maybe light one up while you’re at it) and enjoy. Our country might be at the start of a new, better direction and all, but we still need comedy. As Robert Plant famously asks in the live version of Stairway to Heaven, “does anybody remember laughter?”
